Campus Culture and Traditions. Celebrating life on campus at Dayananda Sagar College of Arts, Science, and Commerce

Dayananda Sagar College of Arts Science and Commerce (DSCASC) is one of Karnataka’s most sought after degree colleges and offers 3 year UG degree programs in BBA, BCA, B.Com, and B.Sc, and 2 year PG programs in MBA, MCA and MCom.

DSCASC is part of Dayananda Sagar group of Institutions (DSI), one of South India’s most renowned names in multi-disciplinary education. The group owns and manages schools, pre-university colleges, and institutes of higher learning that offer graduate, post-graduate and doctoral programs covering Engineering, Dental Sciences, Biological Sciences, Arts, Commerce, Sciences, Pharmacy, Nursing, Allied Health, along with Business Management and Information Technology.

Since its inception in the 1960s, the Dayananda Sagar group of Institutions has been focusing on developing critical thinking skills in students, equipping them to take on challenges, be accountable, work as a team and deliver on their commitments. Students are also guided to uphold India’s traditional and cultural values while being socially progressive and responsible individuals.

This philosophy is the guiding force at DSCASC where students are provided an open and progressive atmosphere to pursue a range of activities that reflect the diverse cultural ethos of our nation, its practices and traditions. Some of the cultural events and festivals are across the institution while several others are initiatives specific to departments.

Students are encouraged to initiate, conduct, and celebrate all important national festivals establishing a sense of tolerance and brotherhood, encompassing all religions and cultures across India. These festivals include Onam, Ganesh Chaturthi, Christmas and other religious festivals. This apart several state events like Kannada Rajyotsava and national events Republic Day and Independence Day are celebrated with joy and pride. Other events include active participation on days such as World Environment Day and World Yoga Day.

On these occasions, students wholeheartedly participate in dancing, singing, and debate competitions and several cultural competitions such as Rangoli contest and Mehendi events. This exposes students of this age and generation to timeless practices and traditions, giving them exposure to these inherent ways of life and celebrations. This also encourages students to display their aesthetic skills, creativity, and talent.

Each department within the college has its own events like Sanchalana and Spectrum Week. These events have activities and themes such as ethnic day, film style day, quizzes, fashion shows, and various other group events and activities.

Students at DSCASC are provided with a highly energetic, vibrant atmosphere backed by modern infrastructure such as well-equipped lecture halls, laboratories, libraries, computer labs and a highly qualified and committed team of faculty members. Faculty members actively participate in all cultural initiatives right from identifying talent to grouping them, planning events, setting up the stage, and putting together a compelling presentation. This encourages the spirit of teamwork, a proactive aptitude to participate, and also gives students from various states exposure about other cultures and practices.

This has resulted in students of the institution getting excellent placement offers from reputed companies. Importantly, these initiatives contribute to creating complete professionals out of students at DSCASC with contemporary academic knowledge and an excellent grounding to become responsible citizens with the timeless Indian values the world is increasingly embracing each day.
